Greencastle, Ind – Virgil Grimes,
95, Greencastle, died Tuesday in Putnam County Hospital. Graveside services
will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Brick Chapel Cemetery here. Calling will be
from 5-8 p.m. Thursday in Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home here. In 1961 he retired
as head of the maintenance department of the Indiana School for the Blind,
Indianapolis. He had also been a
self-employed electrician and was a sheriff’s deputy in Greencastle in 1928 He
was a member of Gobin Memorial United Methodist Church. Born in Belle Union, he lived in Greencastle
most of his life. Survivors: wife, Ida B. Grimes; daughter, Phyllis Ross: sons,
Jack W. and Jerry K. Grimes; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five
great grandchildren. - kbz
